Harness In Your Inner Calm
I’m quite certain that we humans are not designed to live full time in our tiny heads!
We all have a magnificent 2 part nervous system; one part designed for rest/relaxing — and the other designed for immediate action-reaction when stressed or threatened.
The important question is:
Am I living my life predominately in a relaxed embodied state, or am I scurrying through my days reacting and detached from my inner sense of self?
What would life be like to center ourselves throughout the day, connecting to ourselves in just 2 minutes or 12 breath cycles…and then move back into our activity more connection and calm?
What would life be like to lead this practice with an upset friend, partner or child?
The practice takes just two minutes max. Just one breath can bring you benefit.
So when stressed, hurried, overwhelmed…I invite you to pause.
Close your eyes (this lowers stimulation and supports moving inward; possibly hold someone’s hand);
Bring your attention to your breath, breathing in and out slowly through your nose. As we breathe, feel your chest and belly grow and let go;
Now, over the next several exhales: relax your face and jaw, then shoulders and arms. Let go of your belly, hips and lower back. Allow your body to feel warm and loved. Let go of your hips, thighs, knees and feet. Every part of your body is tended to and centered;
Feel the open gentleness of the bottoms of your feet being open to the earth, receiving rich nourishment and strength. (This intention moves beyond the socks and shoes, carpet and flooring);
Breathe in unconditional love and breathe out unconditional love. Gratitude and love for ourselves and others, and everything that challenges us. (This resets our nervous system, our thoughts, words & actions)
One more breath in and out, then open your eyes and come back to your day.
You’ve just blessed yourself and others with upgraded, centered attention and calm which will radiate from you.
You’ve just reduced your heart rate and blood pressure, you’ve invested in a fresh focus and concentration, you’ve paused to feel & appreciate your body, you’ve strengthened a neurological pathway to find calm and embodiment more quickly and deeply.
Thank you for investing in this peace and well-being. Our planet needs people like you.
